More than 100 historic manuscripts from Berlin’s State Library have arrived in Canberra on an Etihad Airways flight, the carrier says.
The original documents, including handwritten works by such luminaries as Bach, Beethoven, Darwin, Einstein, Galileo, Martin Luther and Napoleon Bonaparte, will be on display at the National Library of Australia between November 26 and March 18.
The documents were carried from Germany in specially made, humidity controlled cargo crates and were accompanied by art handlers who hand-carried some of the most precious pieces, Etihad said.
The airline’s senior vice president for cargo, Roy Kinnear, said the operation “further proves Etihad Airways’ ability to provide premium and secure logistical solutions for our partners.”
