Virgin Australia is bringing daily Airbus A330 services to Melbourne for the first time, with daily flights to Sydney and twice daily flights to Perth commencing from mid-May.

Tickets for the new services went on sale today, with economy fares starting from $99 to Sydney and $195 to Perth, Virgin said.

The new flights come as Virgin expands its services in Melbourne, the airline’s second largest port behind Sydney.

“Now with our new widebody services, our premium business and economy class offering and our designer lounge at Melbourne Domestic Airport, we are confident that Virgin Australia will be the airline of choice for the Melbourne market”, Virgin Australia group executive of commercial Liz Savage said.

The Perth services will depart Melbourne at 1pm and 5:30pm, with return flights departing at 8:30am and 5:30pm. Sydney services will depart at 7:15am, returning at 10am.
