Brisbane Airport has reported 10.9 per cent year-on-year growth in passenger numbers for January.
Domestic numbers were up 12.1 per cent on the back of increased regional flights aimed at the natural resource and mining industries. The airport said domestic capacity had increased by 150,000 seats over January 2011, mostly on routes within Queensland.
International carriage was up 5.7 per cent thanks to a spike in passengers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan travelling during the Chinese New Year holidays.
A total of more than 1.75 million passengers travelled through the airport in January, including about 400,000 international passengers.
