RAAF F/A-18A Hornets will highlight an airshow next month commemorating the RNZAF's 75th birthday.

Modern day aircraft from six nations will join Mustang and Spitfire fighters of the past at the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s 75th Anniversary Air Show next month.

Flight demonstrations by RAAF F/A-18A Hornets will headline the show, which will also feature static displays of the RAAF’s B737 Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft as well as C-17 and C-130J transports.

The US Air Force and Marine Corps, Royal Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force and French Armed Forces of New Caledonia will also contribute aircraft in addition to the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

The show will be held at Ohakea Air Base on March 31.

RNZAF military aircraft of the past, present and future will also be on show to the public for the first time since 2009 as well as a range of civilian and vintage aircraft, including Spitfires and a Mustang, to mark 75 years of the RNZAF.

“The RNZAF will showcase its new A109 and NH90 helicopters, the upgraded C-130 Hercules and P-3 Orions, and our other military aircraft,” said RNZAF Air Commodore Steve Moore. The Red Checkers will also demonstrate their aerial expertise. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s birthday.”

More information on the show can be found on the RNZAF’s website.
