Start up charter airline JetGo Australia will lease an Embraer ERJ-135 for use in fly-in fly-out (FIFO) services targeting the natural resource and mining sectors, Embraer has announced.

Delivery of the 37-seat jet is scheduled for the end of February. JetGo said it would use the jet for charter services from eastern seaboard cities to remote mining sites.

“The ERJ-135 gives us the range to access most point in the country and its field performance lets us go where larger jets cannot,” JetGo COO Arron Mulder said.

Equipped with Rolls-Royce AE3007A1/3 engines, the ERJ-135 has a range of up to 3243km and is the smallest of Embraer’s ERJ-145 family of regional jets. With the latest delivery, Embraer will have 44 jet and turboprop aircraft flying with nine airlines in Australia.

Separately, the Brazilian company today announced that it has appointed Melbourne based John Holland Aviation Services to provide line and heavy maintenance services to its E-Jets business aircraft. With the deal, John Holland becomes the first Embraer Authorized Service Center in Asia Pacific, Embraer said.
