Boeing Defence Australia will establish a paint facility at RAAF Base Williamtown under a new $20 million contract to repaint the RAAF fleet.
The contract covers preparing, remediating and painting the RAAF’s AP-3C Orions, C-130H Hercules’, F/A-18 classic Hornets and Hawk-127s.
Boeing said it will set up a surface finishing facility at Williamtown and would use the base to repaint F/A-18s beginning in 2013. Repainting of Hawk-127s will begin immediately at RAAF Base Amberly, Boeing said, while repainting of C-130H Hercules airlifters will begin next month in Townsville under a contract with Flying Colours Aviation. Repainting of AP-3C Orions will take place in Christchurch under a contract with Air New Zealand.
