No extensions for Part 145 compliance – CASA

written by australianaviation.com.au | April 20, 2012

Many of the more than 200 aircraft maintenance organisations and 30 RPT operators required to transition to new Part 145 maintenance regulations have not begun the process, CASA has warned.

The deadline for organisations to move across to the new regulations is June 26 2013.

“CASA will not issue any extensions beyond the deadline,” the safety regulator said. “So it is very important for [organisations] to start work on transition now.”

CASA said it was developing additional resources to help organisations make the transition smoothly but already provided a “high level of guidance.”

CASA says the new Part 42 requirement for air carriers and Part 145 regulations for maintenance organisations will improve standards while allowing for more flexibility and reduced costs.
