Two aircraft carrier-variant F-35C Joint Strike Fighters have flown together for the first time.
The test aircraft, CF-1 and CF-2, flew in formation for more than an hour after taking off from Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, Lockheed Martin says.
Three versions of the F-35 are being produced for the US military: the conventional takeoff and landing F-35A version for the Air Force, the vertical takeoff and landing F-35B for the Marine Corps and the carrier F-35C variant for the Navy.
