The RAAF’s fleet of Hawk Lead-In Fighters has hit 75,000 hours of flying.
The jet, used to train fighter pilots and aircrew, was introduced into RAAF service in 2001, with the RAAF now operating a fleet of 33 of the aircraft based at Williamtown and Pearce.
“This milestone is a credit to the skill and dedication of the RAAF flight and maintenance crews and BAE Systems personnel,” said John Monaghan, the director of aerospace at BAE Systems, which manufactured and supports the jets. “The successful track record during this time is also a testament to the reliability of the Hawk aircraft.”
Almost 1,000 Hawk aircraft have been delivered or ordered by more than 20 nations, BAE said.
