Airbus says its new concept plane, showing what a passenger jet might look like by 2050, is based on feedback from passengers. (Airbus)

Airbus executive vice president of engineering Charles Champion will deliver the 54th Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Lecture in Sydney as part of the annual black tie dinner of the NSW branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

The lecture, held on September 20, will focus on changes on the horizon for global aviation. Champion will highlight the results of a two-year survey commissioned by Airbus to assess what passengers want from the future of flying.

Those results, released last month, underscored a desire for more sustainable operations and for less stressful air travel.

More information on the lecture and dinner can be found here.
