GippsAERO has signed a deal with Washington State based Soloy Aviation that will see the latter assemble and maintain GA8 Airvans ordered by North American customers.
The deal is part of a push by GippsAERO to expand its presence in the North American market. Since many of the Airvan’s components are produced in the US – including its engine, propeller and avionice – GippsAERO said it made economic sense to ship the remaining pieces from Australia and assemble the aircraft on US soil.
“Soloy is a welcome addition to the growing North American strategy as they have unparalleled capabilities to assemble, service and support GA8 Airvans in the region,” GippsAERO CEO Terry Miles said. “We are strategically implementing Airvan maintenance centres to penetrate the market and ensure the Airvan is a viable aircraft for operators in the United States.”
Victoria-based GippsAERO is a fully-owned subsidiary of Indian conglomerate The Mahindra Group.
