Embraer has delivered the first four of 16 A-29 Super Tucano light attack and training fighters to the Indonesian Air Force.
The aircraft, formally handed over during a ceremony at Embraer’s facility in Sao Pãulo, are part of an initial order of eight A-29s placed in 2010. A further eight fighters were later added to the order as Indonesia moves to replace its fleet of OV-10 Broncos.
Indonesia is the first A-29 operator in Southeast Asia. The aircraft, designed for light attack, border patrol and counter-insurgency missions as well as advanced training, is in use with six air forces worldwide.
