A revamped Tamworth Regional Airport has opened its doors after a $4.2 million terminal extension and security upgrade.
The federally-funded renovations have seen the airport’s arrivals and departures lounge tripled in size and the car park extended, as well as the installation of new security equipment including explosive trace detection machines, hand held metal detectors and baggage screening machines.
Passenger travel through Tamworth – Australia’s largest regional airport – has doubled since 2003, averaging 10 per cent growth per year.
