Air NZ deputy chief to retire

written by australianaviation.com.au | October 4, 2012

Air New Zealand is now looking for a new deputy CEO.

Air New Zealand deputy CEO Norm Thompson will retire next year, joining an executive exodus as CEO Rob Fyfe prepares to leave at the end of 2012.

“Few Air New Zealanders have made as significant a contribution to our airline and the nation’s tourism industry as Norm has over the past 44 years,” Mr Fyfe said in a statement.

Mr Thompson will retire in June next year, the airline said.

Mr Fyfe announced plans to step aside earlier this year. He is being replaced Christopher Luxon, the general manager of the airline’s international wing.

Air NZ last week announced the departure its head of people and technical operations and its general manager for operations.
