Airports in the Asia-Pacific region recorded 6.6 per cent growth in passenger traffic during August, contributing to a healthy year-to-date growth rate for the region of 7.8 per cent. However, airfreight remained flat at 0.4 per cent.
According to the report released by the Airports Council International, the highest passenger throughput for the month was recorded in Beijing, which remained the region’s busiest airport, at 7.5 million passengers for August. Tokyo Haneda (6.5m pax) and Hong Kong (5.1m pax) were the second and third busiest respectively.
By comparison, passenger throughput at airports in the Middle East grew by an impressive 16.2 per cent for the same period.
