Brisbane's new Taxiway Bravo.

Brisbane Airport has officially opened a new taxiway and four additional parking aprons at the international terminal.

Taxiway Bravo, in front of the international terminal, allows aircraft to simultaneously arrive and depart the international apron and offers a more direct route to the runway.  According to the airport the $12 million works will cut several minutes off taxiing time, resulting in lower fuel burn and improving airfield and air traffic efficiency.

Brisbane Airports Corporation CEO and managing director Julieanne Alroe said the opening of the section of taxiway Bravo between B7 and B8 was a long time in the making but worth the wait.

“This section of missing taxiway is hugely beneficial for our air traffic controllers who will be able to more efficiently manage aircraft movement on the ground, as well as providing time and cost savings for airlines,” Alroe added.
