Virgin Australia’s domestic pilots have voted to approve a new enterprise agreement that will give them pay raises of up to 28 per cent.
The deal brings to a close nearly 18 months of protracted negotiations and will bring pilots’ pay at Virgin closer to rival Qantas. Under the deal, pilots will see their pay increase by between 14.2 and 28.4 per cent over three years.
Captain David Booth, negotiator for the Australian Federation of Air Pilots, said the agreement brought “solid and sustainable improvements without disrupting the airline’s operations.
“The AFAP has achieved significant gains for Virgin pilots without the industrial turmoil endured by the Qantas pilots 18 months ago,” he said.
