AirAsia X has ordered 25 more A330-300 aircraft from Airbus. The contract, which was signed on Wednesday, represents the largest A330 order received by the aircraft manufacturer under a single purchase agreement.

The carrier has now placed firm orders for 51 of the type, which will be supplemented by another six aircraft leased from International Lease Finance Corporation. Airbus stated that AirAsia X will start taking delivery of its A330-300s in 2015.

The new order includes the latest extended-range versions of the aircraft, which will provide the carrier with the capability to fly non-stop to Europe or offer a one-stop service to the US, according to Airbus.
