Porter Airlines expands its horizon with daily Toronto Pearson-Saskatoon flights

Porter Airlines has officially announced the launch of its first service to Saskatchewan, offering daily flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Saskatoon International Airport (YXE). This new route, set to begin on May 16, 2024, marks a significant milestone for the airline, enabling it to serve all 10 Canadian provinces for the first time in its history.

The service will be facilitated by the new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, notable for its two-by-two configuration which eliminates the need for middle seats, enhancing passenger comfort. Porter is unique in offering this seating arrangement on the Toronto Pearson-Saskatoon route. In addition to the spacious seating, travelers will be treated to Porter’s renowned hospitality, including complimentary high-speed WiFi, premium snacks, and beverages such as beer and wine, served in real glassware.

Porter has designed the flight schedule to cater to a wide range of travelers, with the following timings in local hours:

Departure from Toronto Pearson at 2:30 p.m. and arrival in Saskatoon at 4:04 p.m.
Departure from Saskatoon at 4:55 p.m. and arrival back in Toronto Pearson at 10:09 p.m.
Besides facilitating direct connectivity between Toronto and Saskatoon, the new service also offers connections to several destinations in Eastern Canada, including Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, and St. John’s.

Travelers can opt for an enhanced experience with PorterReserve’s all-inclusive fares, which include priority check-in, extra legroom, premium pre-mixed cocktails, and fresh meals. Otherwise, these services can be purchased separately with PorterClassic fares.

Kevin Jackson, the president of Porter Airlines, highlighted the significance of this expansion: “We are proud to connect Saskatoon and the province of Saskatchewan to Porter’s network for the first time in our history. It solidifies our commitment to bringing the level of connectivity, service, and generosity that travelers deserve across the country. The Porter experience is unlike anything Saskatchewan is used to and we believe will become a favorite for local flyers.”

Adding to the enthusiasm, Stephen Maybury, president and CEO of YXE Saskatoon Airport, expressed the airport’s excitement about welcoming Porter. He remarked, “YXE is very excited to welcome Porter to Saskatchewan for the very first time in the airline’s history. Porter has had a very long and successful career in Eastern Canada, and we are so glad to finally be bringing the airline’s western expansion to Saskatoon this summer. As the gateway to Saskatchewan’s north, YXE is committed to connecting our region to the world, and with Porter’s strong connections and partner airlines, this new route to Toronto will allow for greater connectivity, a new air travel experience, and more flight options all at a competitive fare that we know our guests are going to love.”

Kurush Minocher, Executive Director of Customer Experience and Airline Relations at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, further elaborated on the route’s importance, stating, “Saskatoon is one of the top Canadian destinations for travelers flying out of YYZ. We’re pleased to see Porter add service on the route and increase connectivity both to passengers looking to travel to the prairies, but also those looking to fly from central Canada through Toronto and to the east coast.”
