American Airlines boosts inflight experience with new Wi-Fi redemption option and enhanced entertainment

American Airlines is set to introduce a new way for AAdvantage® members to redeem their miles for inflight Wi-Fi, making the airline’s high-speed connectivity more accessible and easier to use. The rollout will begin on select aircraft in the coming weeks and will be available on all Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft by the summer travel season.

In addition to the new mile redemption option, American offers ad-sponsored Wi-Fi across 100% of its Viasat domestic narrowbody fleet, providing customers with a free Wi-Fi option. The airline also offers gate-to-gate connectivity on most mainline aircraft, allowing customers to stay connected from the moment they find their seat until deplaning.

To further enhance the customer experience, American is introducing a new design for the inflight Wi-Fi portal, which will make Wi-Fi offerings more accessible and user-friendly. The portal will feature a sleeker design, making content easier to navigate and highlighting American’s Wi-Fi, entertainment, and partner offers on a single page.

This summer, American and Intelsat will begin installing high-speed Wi-Fi on nearly 500 dual-class regional aircraft, ensuring a consistent and connected inflight experience for even more customers.

As the first airline to offer streaming capabilities on 100% of its mainline fleet, American allows customers to access their favorite streaming platforms while also providing a regularly updated selection of 1,500 pieces of free content on inflight entertainment. The airline updates approximately 200 titles monthly, inspired by current entertainment trends, customer feedback, and data analysis.

Customers can enjoy a variety of content, including an Award Nominated channel featuring 2024 winners and nominees, a Women’s Stories channel highlighting female voices, and a Paramount Scares channel with specially curated horror and scary movies.

American is also catering to its youngest flyers through a new exclusive partnership with Hey Bear Sensory, offering baby sensory videos to captivate little ones and contribute to a calm and stress-free journey for parents and nearby passengers. Customers seeking wellness options can find custom content like meditation, affirmations, seated stretches, self-care, and more through a new partnership with FitOn. Music fans can enjoy exclusive access to in-depth interviews with emerging and established artists through Center Stage.
