The sale of Goulburn Airport, a general aviation facility located between Sydney and Canberra, is being managed by Ashby York, a real estate firm.
Located 7 km south of Goulburn, the airport offers connectivity to major transport routes, including the M1 motorway, facilitating access for aircraft operations and passengers.
The airport features a mix of amenities and infrastructure, such as a large paved runway, a grass runway, a motel, café, training centre, aircraft hangars, and other support facilities. It spans 291 acres (118 hectares), with an additional option to purchase an adjoining 1871 acres (757 hectares) for further expansion.
Current infrastructure at the airport includes a helipad, flight training centre, and fueling stations, suggesting opportunities for future development. The site is also zoned SP2, indicating a ‘special purpose’ zone aimed at conserving infrastructure and supporting relevant activities, emphasizing its role in regional transportation.
Moreover, an approved 10-lot subdivision adjacent to one of the taxiways offers further developmental prospects, with lot sizes ranging between 520m2 to 1430m2.
The airport has been considered for its potential as a freight hub for Canberra in the past. Efforts towards sustainability have been noted, including the installation of hybrid wind and solar-powered street lighting systems.
Steven Westlake, Principal of Ashby York, commented on the listing, noting the airport’s strategic location and infrastructure, and suggested its potential for growth in the regional aviation sector and the provision of economic opportunities for the surrounding community.
Expressions of interest in Goulburn Airport are open until 30 March 2024, with Ashby York available for further inquiries regarding the sale.
