British Airways relaunches daily London to Abu Dhabi route after four-year hiatus

British Airways has resumed its daily flight service from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi after a four-year pause, with the first flight touching down at Zayed International Airport on Sunday, 21 April 2024.

The inaugural flight, BA073, departed London Heathrow on Saturday, 20 April at 22:25 and arrived on time in Abu Dhabi at 08:30 the following day. The inbound flight, BA072, departed Abu Dhabi at 10:10 and arrived at London Heathrow at 15:20.

Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways, said, “Launching this route from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi is an important addition to our route network within the UAE, the wider region and our expansive global network. Our daily flight will operate all year around, with four cabins to choose from – First, Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller, and we’re confident customers will enjoy our exceptional and original British Airways service.”

The route will be operated using a Boeing 787-9 during the summer 2024 season and aims to strengthen connections between the UAE and the UK for leisure, business, and visiting friends and relatives.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, welcomed British Airways to Zayed International Airport, stating, “Our new award-winning and cutting-edge terminal offers visitors an unparalleled introduction to the vibrant UAE capital, where they will be greeted with Emirati hospitality at its finest.”

The daily flight schedule will vary slightly between the summer and winter seasons, with the winter 2024 service arriving in Abu Dhabi an hour later than the summer schedule.
