Qatar Airways named 'Airline of the Year' for record eighth time

Qatar Airways has been awarded the prestigious ‘Airline of the Year’ title by Skytrax for an unprecedented eighth time, cementing its position as a leader in the aviation industry. The airline also secured three additional accolades at the 2024 Skytrax World Airline Awards, often referred to as ‘the Oscars of the aviation industry’.

Key highlights:

  1. Qatar Airways won four major awards: Airline of the Year, World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Airline Lounge, Best Airline in the Middle East.
  2. This marks the eighth time since 2011 that Qatar Airways has been named Airline of the Year.
  3. Qatar Airways’ home hub, Hamad International Airport, was named ‘World’s Best Airport’ for the third time and ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ for the tenth consecutive year.
  4. Qatar Duty Free, the airport’s retail division, received the ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’ award for the second year running.
  5. This is the first time in Skytrax history that an airline, its hub airport, and the airport’s retail have all been crowned ‘World’s Best’ in their respective categories in the same year.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, expressed pride in the achievement, stating: “This award is a testimony to our relentless commitment to providing unparalleled service and innovation.”

The airline currently flies to nearly 170 destinations worldwide and has been recognized for its environmental initiatives, including being the first airline in the Middle East to achieve the highest level of IATA’s Environmental Assessment program.

These awards further solidify Qatar Airways’ reputation for excellence in the aviation industry and its commitment to providing top-tier service to its customers.
