Air New Zealand resumes direct flights to Hobart for summer season

written by Newsdesk | September 26, 2024

Air New Zealand is set to relaunch its seasonal direct flights between Auckland and Hobart, Tasmania’s capital, starting 27 October.

The airline will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using A320neo and A321neo aircraft, marking the return of international services to Tasmania.

Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand General Manager International, expressed excitement about reconnecting Kiwi and Tasmanian customers over the summer months.

“With more than 600 seats available to Tassie each week, there are plenty of options for a summer escape to Tasmania,” Mr O’Brien said.

He highlighted that customers will benefit from the airline’s refreshed Seats to Suit options, offering greater choice and affordable flexibility.

The flights will feature full inflight entertainment and a snack or meal, depending on the fare selection.

Mr O’Brien emphasised the diverse attractions Tasmania offers, including the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), historic Battery Point, golf courses, and the Salamanca Market.

“It’s great to be starting our seasonal services again, connecting Kiwi to the charming city of Hobart and Aussies to our biggest city, with domestic connections to 19 other destinations around Aotearoa,” he said.

Hobart is Air New Zealand’s ninth Australian destination, with the airline offering this seasonal service over the warmer months.

Flights will depart Auckland at 9:00am and arrive in Hobart at 10:55am local time, with return flights leaving Hobart at 12:20pm and landing in Auckland at 5:50pm.

Tickets for the Auckland-Hobart route are now available for purchase on the Air New Zealand website.
