JetBlue has begun daily flights between Boston and Presque Isle, Maine, expanding its network in New England.
The new service, which started on 5 September 2024, aims to improve connectivity for Northern Maine and New Brunswick travellers.
Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning and airline partnerships, said the route would benefit local communities.
“We are happy to bring the long-desired Boston flights back to Presque Isle and the surrounding communities,” Jehn said.
The U.S. Department of Transportation selected JetBlue to operate the Essential Air Service route.
Senator Angus King highlighted the importance of regional airports for Maine’s economy.
“Maine’s regional airports play a critical role in connecting Maine people, local businesses and communities to the same services and destinations as those in higher population areas,” King said.
Initially, JetBlue will use 100-seat Embraer E190 jets on the route, transitioning to 140-seat Airbus A220 aircraft in 2025.
The airline is offering introductory one-way fares of $29 for a limited time, available only through its website.
JetBlue’s expansion in New England includes plans to serve 10 destinations in the region by winter.
The carrier will increase its seat capacity in New England by 20 percent this winter compared to the previous year.
From Boston, JetBlue serves over 70 destinations, more than any other airline at the airport.
The new Presque Isle service is part of JetBlue’s strategy to strengthen its network in the Northeast United States.
