Delta reveals contemporary cabin refresh ahead of centenary

written by Newsdesk | October 21, 2024

Delta Air Lines will roll out a comprehensive cabin interior redesign across its fleet, starting with a Boeing 757 aircraft later this year.

The refresh comes as the airline approaches its 100-year anniversary and includes new seating, enhanced lighting and updated brand elements.

Delta’s Vice President of Customer Experience Design, Mauricio Parise, said the changes reflected evolving passenger preferences.

“As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations,” Parise said.

The redesign features memory-foam cushions on widebody aircraft and new lighting sequences designed to match different flight phases.

“For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open,” Parise said.

The airline has adopted a warmer colour palette incorporating natural materials like wool.

New design motifs include the “Infinite Grid” and “Celestial Sky” patterns on cabin bulkheads.

Aircraft lavatories will receive bright walls with an accent wall featuring the Celestial Sky pattern.

The first widebody aircraft to showcase the new interior will be an Airbus A350 in early 2025.

Delta plans to gradually implement the design across its entire fleet over several years to ensure a consistent passenger experience.
