SITA appoints new head of airports division amid digital transformation push

Global air transport technology provider SITA has appointed Nathalie Altwegg as Senior Vice President of its Airports business unit.

Altwegg will oversee SITA’s expansion plans across more than 1,000 airports worldwide.

The appointment aims to accelerate the digitisation of airport operations and passenger journeys.

SITA CEO David Lavorel welcomed Altwegg’s expertise.

“It’s wonderful to be welcoming Nathalie to the executive team as a hugely experienced SITA expert with great insights into how to take our Airports business forward,” Lavorel said.

Altwegg joins the role after serving as Chief Operating Officer for SITA Europe.

She brings over 20 years of aviation industry experience including expertise in mergers and acquisitions and IT outsourcing.

“We’re bringing great changes as we reinvent journeys and processes to deliver the ultimate travel experience with the most advanced, efficient and sustainable technologies,” Altwegg said.

Her appointment comes as airports increase technology investment to modernise operations.

SITA aims to introduce new technologies for next-generation operations and biometric passenger processing.
