United Airlines will sponsor Ballet International Gala’s production of The Nutcracker across Australia and New Zealand during the 2024 holiday season.
The partnership marks United’s second year as principal airline partner for the ballet company.
Performances will be staged in nine cities including Perth, Auckland, Hobart, and Melbourne between October and December.
United Airlines Regional Manager Tim Wallis said the collaboration held special significance.
“As our first collaboration in the ballet and arts community in Australia and New Zealand, our partnership with Ballet International Gala has been very special to us,” Wallis said.
The airline celebrated the partnership with a promotional photoshoot featuring dancers at Brisbane International Airport.
Ballet International Gala Director Joel Burke welcomed United’s continued support.
“Thanks to the support of United, BIG Live has underlined Australasia’s reputation as a global destination for international ballet and the world’s best ballet artists,” Burke said.
The tour will culminate in a Christmas spectacular at the Sydney Opera House.
United Airlines has operated in Australia since 1986.
The carrier currently operates flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles and from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to San Francisco.
