Munich Airport will transform its terminal forum into a festive marketplace complete with ice skating, entertainment and visits from Santa Claus from November 15 to December 31.
The Christmas and winter market will operate daily from 11am to 9pm in the Munich Airport Center, except for Christmas Eve when it closes at 4pm.
More than 40 stalls will fill Europe’s largest open-air terminal hall, anchored by a 600-square-metre ice rink with a dedicated curling lane.
Families can enjoy discounted offerings every Tuesday as part of the market’s new Family Day initiative.
Santa Claus will make four special appearances at the market, distributing treats to children on November 23 and December 6.
The festive figure will also share holiday stories at the “House of Santa” on November 30 and December 14.
Evening entertainment will include ice disco sessions each Wednesday from 6pm, while live jazz, pop and gospel performances will run Thursday through Sunday evenings.
A new free creative workshop will operate Thursday to Sunday, allowing visitors to design ceramics, with participants only needing to purchase their chosen items.
The airport will continue its traditional light tours, with the 50-minute guided bus excursions available for pre-booking online or last-minute booking at the ‘Lichterfahrten Hut’ in the terminal.
Visitors can access three hours of free parking in the P20 car park using QR codes found on market flyers and the airport website.
The market provides both local residents and travellers with food, beverages and gift shopping options throughout the festive period.
