Frontier Airlines has earned CAPA’s North American Environmental Sustainability Airline of the Year award for its industry-leading emissions reductions.
The ultra-low-cost carrier received the accolade at CAPA’s Environmental Sustainability Awards for Excellence in Hong Kong this week.
The award recognised Frontier’s achievement in operating 44 per cent more fuel efficiently than other major US carriers.
Barry Biffle, CEO of Frontier Airlines, said the company was proud of its environmental leadership.
“Not only do we operate the most fuel-efficient fleet in North America, but our continuous efforts to reduce our environmental footprint through aircraft weight reduction, operational efficiencies and smart network design all contribute toward our sustainability goals,” he said.
Frontier operates the largest Airbus A320neo family fleet in the United States, helping drive significant reductions in its carbon emissions.
The airline saved 160 million gallons of fuel in 2023, equivalent to removing 305,000 cars from the road for a year.
CAPA selected winners based on independently sourced and analysed emissions and efficiency data.
To mark the award, Frontier launched a one-day promotion offering up to 100 per cent off base fares on select flights through February 2025.
The sale applies to travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with 50 per cent discounts available for Monday and Thursday flights.
Certain blackout dates and route exclusions apply to the promotional fares.
