Airbus names new Chief Human Resources Officer

written by Newsdesk | December 8, 2024

Airbus has appointed Carmen-Maja Rex as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, effective 1 April 2025.

Ms Rex will join the Executive Committee and report directly to Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury.

She currently serves as Human Resources Group Director at Heidelberg Materials, a global building materials manufacturer.

The appointment comes as current HR chief Thierry Baril prepares to depart after nearly 22 years with Airbus, including 12 years as Chief Human Resources Officer.

“The bold transformation that Airbus will now undertake to meet its current and future challenges requires a skilled, diverse and motivated global workforce,” Mr Faury said.

Mr Faury credited Mr Baril with positioning HR as a strategic function during times of significant change at the company.

“Thierry has played a pivotal role in the transformation of Airbus over the years,” he said.

Ms Rex brings extensive HR leadership experience, having previously worked at Siemens and the United Nations after beginning her career at Accenture in 1999.

She has led HR operations at Heidelberg Materials since 2020, overseeing a workforce of 51,000 employees across more than 50 countries.

Mr Baril will remain with Airbus into 2025 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
