The Republic of Kazakhstan has received its first Airbus A400M military transport aircraft, marking a significant upgrade to the nation’s airlift capabilities.
The aircraft was delivered to Almaty following a ferry flight from Airbus’ assembly facility in Seville, Spain.
“The A400M is a game changer for the Kazakh Air Defense Forces, delivering unrivalled tactical and strategic capabilities in a single platform,” said Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space.
A second A400M ordered by Kazakhstan is currently in production and scheduled for delivery in 2026.
The aircraft, designated MSN139, comes with comprehensive maintenance and training support from Airbus.
Over 130 A400Ms have now been delivered to nine countries, accumulating 200,000 flight hours in various military and humanitarian missions.
The aircraft has played crucial roles in recent evacuations from Afghanistan, Sudan and Niger, demonstrating its ability to transport heavy cargo and personnel in challenging conditions.
The A400M can operate from unprepared airstrips and transport up to 116 paratroopers or 25 tonnes of cargo.
