Air New Zealand transported more than 16 million passengers and operated 171,605 flights during a bustling 2024.
The carrier’s engineering team completed 92 engine changes and spent 1.2 million hours maintaining aircraft amid ongoing engine availability challenges.
CEO Greg Foran said the airline achieved significant milestones despite facing hurdles throughout the year.
“We’d like to thank everyone who travelled with us in 2024, and extend a special acknowledgement to our incredible team of Air New Zealanders for their dedication and hard work,” Foran said.
The airline’s Airpoints loyalty program grew by 414,000 members to reach 4.8 million total members.
Auckland to Sydney was the most popular short-haul route while Auckland to Singapore led long-haul travel numbers.
The carrier’s cargo division moved 130.9 million kilograms of freight, including 1.9 million kilograms of asparagus and 1.7 million kilograms of lobster.
Air New Zealand’s new safety video featuring basketball star Steven Adams attracted 30.4 million views globally.
The airline transported 19,444 animals including dogs, cats, kiwis, penguins and two Tasmanian devils.
Crews served 5.7 million meals and distributed 3.8 million cookies along with 17.5 million lollies.
Window seat 2A proved most popular across most aircraft types, while customers spent an average of 106 minutes in international lounges before flights.
The airline will mark its 85th anniversary in April 2025 following the completion of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cabin upgrades.
