Qatar Airways adds Malta flights to expand European network

written by Newsdesk | January 17, 2025

Qatar Airways will resume services to Malta with four weekly flights from July 2025, marking its return to the Mediterranean destination.

The route expansion will take Qatar Airways’ European network to nearly 50 destinations, with flights operating from Doha’s Hamad International Airport to Malta International Airport.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the resumption strengthened ties between the two nations.

“Qatar Airways is delighted to announce the resumption of our flights to Malta, which marks a vibrant addition to our robust European network. Qatar and Malta enjoy staunch economic ties, and our operational relaunch to the country only furthers our relationship,” Mr Al-Meer said.

The airline currently operates 42 weekly flights to Australia and awaits regulatory approval for its proposed partnership with Virgin Australia.

Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with two different schedule options available.

The Wednesday and Friday service will depart Doha at 02:05, arriving in Malta at 06:45, while the return flight will leave Malta at 10:15 and arrive in Doha at 16:20.

The route will connect passengers from Australia, China, India, Japan and the Philippines to Malta’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed capital Valletta, along with destinations like Gozo and Comino.

The medieval city of Mdina, which served as a filming location for the television series Game of Thrones, will also be accessible to travellers through the new service.
