British Airways has reopened its Seattle lounge following an extensive refurbishment, marking the latest milestone in the airline’s worldwide lounge enhancement program.
The newly renovated Seattle facility coincides with the airline’s 45-year flying history to the Emerald City and joins recently refreshed lounges in Singapore, Lagos, Washington and London Gatwick.
The Seattle lounge has been designed with inspiration from the Pacific Northwest while incorporating British design elements, featuring a completely redesigned food service area, dedicated First dining experience and work-friendly focus pods.
A brand-new full-service bar serves as the lounge’s centrepiece, while the space takes advantage of 180-degree views of the runway and mountains beyond.
British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, Calum Laming, said: “We announced our £7bn transformation programme last year and promised to improve the customer experience both on the ground and in the air. Across our global network we have 28 lounges in 20 airports that all play a huge part in our customers’ journeys, so we’re committed to offering the very best experience.”
“Just like our customers and colleagues, each lounge is unique. Customers can expect to see nods to our British heritage blended seamlessly with features that celebrate the locality of the destination,” Mr Laming said.
Local touches feature prominently in the Seattle space, with walls adorned with textile artwork by local artists including Hannah Mason.
The airline’s Singapore lounge has also seen recent upgrades, now featuring a brand-new à la carte Concorde Dining area, bespoke British furniture, locally inspired fabrics and menus showcasing British Original-inspired dishes.
London Gatwick’s Club and First lounges have received similar attention with new bars, décor and furniture installations.
The airline has announced ambitious plans for its lounge network in 2025, including opening new facilities in Dubai and Miami that will showcase its brand-new design concept.
Dubai’s lounge will feature Concorde Dining, an enhanced food offering, showers and a full-service bar, while Miami’s new space will be conveniently positioned above departure gates.
Additional refreshes are scheduled for Boston and Glasgow later this year, with a full redevelopment of Heathrow lounges set to commence in 2026.
British Airways operates 28 lounges across 20 airports worldwide, serving more than one million glasses of champagne last year.
The British Original burger ranked as the most popular food item across the network, while coffee was the most frequently requested beverage.
According to the airline, customers seeking impressive views should visit the London Gatwick First lounge and Aberdeen facility, while Heathrow Terminal 5’s South Club lounge remains the largest in the network.
