Ethiopian Airlines has added a Boeing 737-800 Business Jet to its fleet, marking a new phase in the airline’s premium charter service offering.

The aircraft, configured exclusively for VIP and small group charter operations, features a luxurious cabin design and is aimed at business leaders, diplomats and private travellers seeking flexible and secure travel options.

Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the addition reflects the airline’s continued efforts to serve a growing market for high-end travel.

“As Africa’s leading carrier, we are always looking for ways to enhance our offerings and meet the unique demands of our diverse clientele,” he said. “With the addition of this Boeing 737-800 Business Jet, we are elevating our charter service to new heights, ensuring that our customers enjoy unparalleled luxury, convenience, and world-class service.”

The aircraft features seating for up to 19 passengers in commercial operations and up to 32 in private configurations. It includes amenities such as a customised in-flight entertainment system with screens up to 42 inches, Wi-Fi connectivity and premium onboard dining.

Designed for short- and medium-haul travel, the aircraft is expected to support business and investment mobility across Africa, as well as connections between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Ethiopian’s business jet service includes access to private terminals and personalised flight scheduling. The new jet will form part of the airline’s broader fleet, which includes Boeing 737s, 777s, 787s, Airbus A350s and De Havilland Q400s.
