Qatar Airways Cargo has launched a new dedicated air freight service for the semiconductor industry, introducing a specialised product called TechLift to meet the growing global demand for secure and efficient semiconductor transport.
TechLift is designed for the consumer electronics, communications, satellite, automotive and AI industries. It provides customised solutions for handling integrated circuits, chipsets, microchips, semiconductor manufacturing machinery, testing equipment, and doped chemicals.
Chief Officer Cargo Mark Drusch said semiconductors are integral to modern life and require expert handling.
“Nearly every aspect of modern-day life relies on semiconductors – from smartphones to data centres and cloud computing, to automotive, electric vehicles and industrial applications, and now, to an ever-increasing extent, AI and the Internet of Things,” he said. “Their transport is best carried out by established cargo professionals, as it demands absolute precision, expertise, and highly trained staff.”
TechLift offers higher loading priority, use of approved data loggers, and specialised handling processes according to operational guidelines. The service also ensures protection from adverse weather conditions during transit.
Customers using TechLift can combine the service with other Qatar Airways Cargo solutions:
– Q-Climate, which maintains temperature control using refrigerated trucks and includes extra shock absorption during ground transfers.
– Q-Plus for increased loading priority.
– Q-Prime for highest-priority shipment with continuous monitoring by the airline’s Control Tower.
Qatar Airways Cargo has invested in shock-absorbing 20-ft and 40-ft transport dollies in Doha to reduce transit times, with a minimum connection time of 90 minutes. The airline’s global network supports wide-reaching semiconductor logistics.
“We have perfected every aspect of the transportation for semiconductor products to leave absolutely nothing to chance,” said Drusch. “Whatever your semiconductor shipping requirements, I am convinced that no one does it better than Qatar Airways Cargo’s TechLift team.”
