American Airlines has opened new Flagship and Admirals Club lounges at Philadelphia International Airport ahead of the busy summer travel season.
The 25,000-square-foot facility in Terminal A-West opened on 22 May, replacing the existing Admirals Club lounge in the A-East Terminal.
The lounges are located between gates A15 and A16 and are available to eligible AAdvantage members, qualifying oneworld members and customers travelling in premium cabins on qualifying same-day flights.
American Airlines chief customer officer Heather Garboden said the company was excited to welcome customers to the new pre-flight experience.
“With more than 19 million travellers passing through Philadelphia last year, our passionate team worked zealously to create a calm, comfortable sanctuary away from the terminal hustle where customers can relax, recharge and feel taken care of before their journey takes off,” she said.
Philadelphia International Airport serves as American’s trans-Atlantic gateway and one of its most important hubs, with more than 355 peak-day departures in 2024 to more than 120 destinations in 26 countries.
The airline will launch five inaugural routes this summer, including flights to Milan and Edinburgh, both beginning on 23 May.
The lounges feature natural materials, warm woods and organic textures designed to reflect the surrounding environment, with zoned lighting and ambient music.
Seating options range from café chairs and bar stools to soft lounge seating and private work pods.
The facility includes high-speed Wi-Fi, power outlets, flight information screens, curated artwork, spa-style shower suites and family-friendly spaces.
The Flagship lounge spans nearly 12,500 square feet and offers an elevated experience for customers travelling in Business on qualifying international, transcontinental or select domestic flights.
Customers receive a complimentary glass of champagne and can enjoy panoramic runway views, six spa-style showers and specially created dishes by local chef and James Beard Award semifinalist Randy Rucker.
The Admirals Club lounge covers nearly 11,000 square feet and offers curated self-serve offerings, specialty Don Francisco coffee and a full-service bar, with a dedicated kids’ area for families.
Both lounges can be expanded by an additional 1,364 square feet during peak traffic periods.
AAdvantage members with Platinum status or higher can access the Flagship lounge when travelling internationally in a Flagship cabin, with single visit passes available for $US150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles.
Access to the Admirals Club lounge is available through membership, qualifying oneworld status or the Citi/AAdvantage Executive credit card, with one-day passes available for $US79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
American Airlines will launch Klur bath products across the Philadelphia lounge spaces in a new scent called Balance in Bloom, developed in partnership with the airline.
