Melb pax numbers continue mixed trend

written by australianaviation.com.au | December 20, 2011
Melbourne Airport's International passengers numbers were up as domestic numbers fell during November, continuing a trend.

Continuing a half-year trend, Melbourne Airport has reported strong November growth in international passengers while domestic passengers declined.

International numbers were up 10 per cent over November last year to 546,138 while domestic numbers dropped three per cent to 1.8 million, the airport said. Total passenger numbers were down less than one per cent.

Domestic numbers have fallen throughout the second half of the year — a drop the airport attributes to Qantas industrial strife and the problems faced by Tiger Airways, which was forced to scale back operations after its flights were suspended over safety concerns in July.
