written by australianaviation.com.au | January 31, 2012
The ADF has extended an F/A-18 Classic Hornet maintenance contract through 2013.

BAE Systems and L-3 MAS Canada have won a 10-month extension on their ADF contract for maintenance of the F/A-18 Classic Hornet.

The contract, which was due to expire in December 2012 and will now run through October 2013, includes structural refurbishment modifications and deep maintenance for an additional 14 F/A-18. The extension is worth between $50m and $130m.

The additional work will support an extra 60 jobs and involve a total of more than 200 aerospace technicians and support personnel at Williamtown, NSW, BAE said.

BAE has provided Hornet maintenance to the RAAF since 2003 and partnered with L-3 MAS in 2009 on a refurbishment program meant to extend the Classic Hornet’s lifespan.
