Airbus Military’s A400M tactical airlifter has completed its first set of rough field tests on a grass runway at Cottbus-Drewitz airfield in Germany.

Test aircraft Grizzly 2 performed a series of ground runs including maximum-braked rejected takeoffs as part of the tests. Analysis of the data and an examination of the runway are now underway and the aircraft is planned to return for further trials at a later date, Airbus said.

Airbus Miltary  said deliveries of the A400M are on track to commence by the end of the year.
