Singapore Airlines will launch a second daily A380 service between Melbourne and Singapore next month.
The second A380 will replace a Boeing 777-300ER as SQ217/218, departing Singapore at 9:55 am and returning from Melbourne at 12:05 am. The changeover is scheduled for August 16.
The airline, which already operates two daily A380 services between Singapore-Sydney, will continue to operate a third daily Melbourne-Singapore flight using Boeing 777-300s.
SIA said the increased capacity from the switch to the A380 was in line with a broad uptick in services to Australia, including recently added flights to Brisbane and Adelaide.
