Jetstar has announced that it will increase its frequencies on routes to Denpasar, Phuket and Honolulu as it takes delivery of its seventh Airbus A330-200 in December.
With the new aircraft, the low cost carrier will increase its services from Sydney and Melbourne to Denpasar from four and two times weekly to daily and three times weekly services respectively. The carrier will also increase to five weekly services on its Sydney-Phuket route, while Sydney-Honolulu services will gain an additional weekly frequency to lift it to five services per week. The new schedules will be effective from December 15 to 29 January.
“Australians are continuing to travel overseas in record numbers – in fact, a record 5.8 million Australian residents travelled overseas for the year ended June 2009, more than half of which were holidaymakers,” Jetstar CEO Bruce Buchanan said.
“We believe these new services will be met with strong demand from leisure travellers who want to get away over the Christmas and New Year holiday period on a low fares break.”
As well as the new A330 due in December, the airline is also planning to take delivery of a further four new A330s from late 2010 to allow it to continue to expand its longhaul network prior to the arrival of its first Boeing 787-9s in 2013.
