Strategic Airlines has been awarded its air operators certificate (AOC) by CASA, the Brisbane based charter operator announced on September 29.
“The AOC is the culmination of a concerted group effort by our dedicated team, and we are very proud of the result,” Strategic executive director Michael James said. “All of our people have worked tirelessly over the past 12 months, and it has certainly paid off.”
The AOC covers Strategic’s Airbus A330-200, which it will initially use to service its ADF contract to fly troops and equipment between Australia and the Middle East. Then later this year Strategic expects to add two A320s to its AOC, one of which is currently operating flights between Brisbane and Honiara for Solomon Airlines under the airline’s recently awarded French AOC (for its European subsidiary), the second to operate RPT flights between Perth and Derby in WA.
Strategic will make its Airbus fleet available for ad hoc charter, ACMI leases and AOG coverage, James said.
“We are also exploring other selective market opportunities in Australia and overseas,” he said.
An indepth feature on Strategic appears in Australian Aviation’s October edition.
