Regional Pacific looks to Cairns-Mt Isa-Alice Springs air link

written by WOFA | October 28, 2009

Regional Pacific Airlines (RPA) operated a proving flight from Cairns to Alice Springs via Mount Isa on October 28, with the airline planning to develop it into a twice weekly passenger service.

RPA CEO Anthony Sandford told the ABC that he sees potential to develop the route to service the mining sector and develop tourism. “Queensland is currently promoting the outback, visit the outback, western Queensland, and we believe that we can then tap through to central Australia too,” he said.

“So it would be a complete outback package that can be put together.”

Regional Pacific currently operates a fleet of Embraer EMB-120 aircraft from Cairns and flies to Mount Isa, Northern Peninsula Area (Bamaga), Edward River and Kowanyama.
