A Qantas Boeing 737-800 operating QF593 from Adelaide to Perth landed safely after issuing a pan call as the captain became incapacitated through illness on October 30.
The 737, which was carrying 110 passengers and was approximately one hour from landing when the captain became incapacitated, forcing the copilot to issue a pan radio call, requesting ambulance assistance upon landing at Perth, and was given a direct vectoring to land on runway 21/03 at Perth Airport. The aircraft landed safely without incident at 0730 local time, with a tug towing it to the Qantas domestic terminal.
The sick captain was taken by ambulance to hospital, but it has been reported that the illness was not life threatening.
