FAA to conduct Australian air safety review

written by WOFA | November 27, 2009

CASA has announced that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has accepted an invitation to conduct a review of Australian air safety systems.

FAA staff will arrive in Australia during the week starting November 30 to commence the review, which will examine aspects of the country’s aviation safety regulation and safety oversight framework, particularly in reference to ICAO standards and recommended practices. CASA says that the review is a routine part of the FAA’s international audit program for nations whose airlines fly to the US.

“Australian aviation has a proud safety record with one of the most rigorous regulatory frameworks in the world,” said CASA CEO John McCormick. “I am pleased the US Federal Aviation Administration has accepted CASA’s invitation to visit Australia during 2009.”
