Passenger numbers for the Queensland Airports Limited Group, which operates Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa airports, increased by 11.25 per cent during October, lifting the group to a new record for the month.
During October, 609,059 passengers passed through the three airports, driven particularly by a 15.73 per cent increase in passengers through Gold Coast Airport as international services increased. Townsville saw a 1.93 per cent increase, while Mount Isa was lower by 14.66 per cent.
QAL managing director Dennis Chant said that the strong performance was a sign that the economy was improving. “Most significantly, we have now had back-to-back record months for the group in aggregate and that is a great sign that business confidence is returning,” he said.
