ARFF at Gold Coast goes digital

written by WOFA | December 11, 2009

Gold Coast Airport’s Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting station (ARFF) is the first in the country to receive a digital upgrade to its fire control centre, Airservices Australia announced on December 11.

Part of a $12 million nationwide rollout of new fire control technology, the new integrated digital system replaces a number of older standalone systems previously used by ARFF. “It incorporates the very latest technology integrated communications and incident management resources to give Airservices fire fighters the best tools to manage any incident,” said ARFF general manager Andrew Rushbrook.

Similar technology is expected to be rolled out at other ARFF stations around the country, as Airservices embarks on a major capital acquisition program for the service, which includes 38 new fire trucks, new station buildings and also an upgrade to ‘smart’ personal protective equipment.
