Boeing restructures defence division

written by WOFA | January 8, 2010

FA-18EBoeing has announced a significant restructure in its defense businesses, with its Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) division to be renamed as Boeing Defense, Space & Security.

CEO of the renamed unit, Dennis Muilenburg, says the changes will better position Boeing for growth in an evolving defence and security market. “Boeing anticipated flattening defence budgets and shifting customer priorities for the past few years and has been taking aggressive steps to position the company for profitable growth in a challenging economy,” Muilenburg said in a statement. “With these latest strategic moves, we can extend our core programs even as we enhance Boeing-wide capabilities designed to capture business in promising markets in the United States and around the world, including cyber-security, energy, intelligence, C4ISR and logistics.”

The current three main operating units; Boeing Military Aircraft (BMA), Network and Space Systems (N&SS), and Global Services & Support (GS&S); have been retained, although there will be some structural and management changes within these divisions.
